The signs and symptoms of anal cancer included below can also be caused by other health conditions. It is important to have these symptoms, and any other unusual symptoms, checked by a doctor.

Signs and symptoms of anal cancer include:

  • Anal or rectal bleeding
  • Pain or pressure in the anal area
  • Itching or discharge from the anus
  • A lump or swelling in the anal area
  • A change in bowel habits (changes in the size of stool, or constipation, diarrhea or alternating between constipation and diarrhea)
